Having been set up in 2015, Sompting Larks is the newest team within the Sompting family. The Larks is comprised of both men and ladies of varying ages, dancing mixed, mainly Cotswold tradition dances, in a gender-neutral kit with contemporary and modern twists.
The Larks was originally set up as a mixed side for young people although recently lifted their age limit, meaning the membership has increased from just a handful of members practicing occasionally to a solid side of dedicated people, meeting weekly, who just love to dance and have fun whilst doing it. We all share a common goal which is to dance out regularly in the local area, with dance stands planned monthly in Worthing town, and to hopefully encourage new blood into the morris in the process.
The Larks practice separately from the SVM Men and Ladies, on a Tuesday evening all year round in Worthing. With our sessions set up to break new members into morris gently, we are always welcoming to anyone who wishes to give morris a try to find out if it's for them or not. We'll have you dancing by the end of the evening for sure!
If you are interested in coming along to one of our practice sessions, or just curious about our activities, please contact the SVM recruitment team on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
