Sompting Village Morris has both traditional and more contemporary sides, with a team to suit everyone, including single sex sides wearing traditional kits.
The Ladies of Sompting Village Morris have a lot of fun dancing out at various local events and weekend festivals during the summer with the men of Sompting Village Morris. Invitations come from a range of local organisations and charities; Cubs, WI, village fetes, care homes, to name but a few. We can be seen on Wednesday nights at pubs around the area, and a singsong and traditional folk music session often follows the dancing.
During the practice season in the winter we meet on Wednesday evenings to learn new dances, and practice the familiar ones. Most of our dances are from the Cotswold tradition, but we also enjoy dances from other areas of the country, using both hankies and sticks.
Being a member of SVM is like being part of a large family; we socialise a lot, help each other out, and don't need any excuse for a get-together. One popular Ladies' event is a cream tea tour. With the men, we go on tour or hold an event at the beginning and end of each season.
We welcome new members of all ages who would like to try out a fun way of keeping fit. No prior experience necessary - just a willingness to have a go and join in!
If you are interested in giving Morris a go, please email the recruitment team for information on joining.
